2009——2014
І. Changes of Human Resources
On Mar. 9th, 2009, Prof. Sun Yuanbo was appointed as the head of Department of Industrial Design in terms of Document No.4[2009] of the School of Design and Art.
In September, 2009, Prof. Yu Dehua was transferred from the Department of Chinese Furniture to the Department of Industrial Design.
In June, 2010, Prof. Zong Mingming was transferred from the School of Art in Qiqihar University to the Department of Industrial Design.
In July 2012, Ph.D.Gong Chao was recruited into the department.
By June of 2014, teachers of the Department of Industrial Design add up to 18, including two professors, nine associate professors, six lecturers, one teaching assistant.
ІІ. Major Construction
In 2009, regarding Ergonomics and Interaction Design as a critical development direction, the Department of Industrial Design is rewarded as the Beijing Special University Education Construction Project.
In 2012, the Industrial Design major is approved as the Key Major of MIIT (Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the P.R.C.).
Ⅲ. Laboratory and Workshop Construction
In 2010, Ergonomics and Interaction Design Lab was built based on the Beijing Special University Education Construction Project and “985” Seats Design Research Base Project.
In 2012, Vehicle Modeling Design Lab was built supported by “985” Postgraduate Teaching Reform Project.

1.The department has received foreign Students from Mongolia, Malaysia, Sudan, Kenya and other universities. In 2014, first foreign student acquired Master’s Degree.
The department has successfully held and join in the International Design Summer Camp for four years, since 2010.
2.The department has developed long-term friendship and cooperation with famous universities abroad including University of Arts Offenbach, University of Houston, Swiburn University of Technology, etc.
3.Four teachers studied and had researches at abroad in sessions.
The foreign professors coming from Universiteit Delft and University of Houston have been invited to teach classes.

1.Vertical Achievements
(1) 2010:Humanities and Social Science Research Project of the Ministry of Education: Design Research on the needs of an aging society (by Gong Xiaodong)
(2) 2013: the National Social Science Fund Project: the Spread, Practice and Reconstruction of German Industrial Ideology in China (by Zong Mingming)
2. Horizontal Achievements
In recent years, the horizontal researches cover weapons and equipment, medical products, home appliances, construction and vehicles, and so on. The projects include interaction and product design, and the total amount of annual research fund has increased dramatically.
