Prof. GIANNI POZZI Comes to BIT for Academic Exchange Translator: Qin Siyao, News Agency of

On March, 2016, GIANNI POZZI, art critic as well as professor of Florence National Academy of Fine Arts of Italy came to Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) at the invitation of School of Design and Arts. 

In his two-week stay, Professor POZZI not only lectured about contemporary art history for graduates majored in Fine Arts, but also paid a visit to the Capital Museum, 798 Art District, Ceramics Studio and Excellent Graduation Works Exhibition at Liangxiang Campus. By vising these arty places and learning about the teaching and research in School of Design and Arts, Professor POZZI gained a deeper understanding of Chinese culture and arts.

On the afternoon of March 25, Professor POZZI delivered a speech on how to interpret contemporary art in an open class hosted by Professor Wang Dongsheng, Director of Academic Research Department.In question-and-answer portion, Professor POZZI communicated with students about the relation between contemporary art and design, the position of female artists in contemporary art and so on. In the end, Dean Yang Jianming issued the certificate of Distinguished Professor to Professor POZZI on behalf of School of Design and Arts and studied subsequent cooperation between two schools with him.

 

BIT Art Platform has conducted lots of high-level activities since its establishment, with the hope that the platform could become a non-profit public art space in a science and engineering college that helps strengthen art education and give prominence to the humanistic care to serve for culture construction and educational research in BIT.
