Recently, a delegation of professors and students from Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) has visited the School of Design and Arts of Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) and conducted two lectures. SCAD is the largest art school of America, and also one of the largest of the world. Graduates from the SCAD included many prominent Disney animators and designers of world-renowned brands, such as Kate Aronowitz, chief designer of Facebook. The industrial design major of the school is aimed at designing products that enhance life quality. Professors require students to design products that are pleasant, enjoyable, environment-adaptable, life-facilitating and most importantly, capable of improving interpersonal communication. On March 15, 2016, Professor Jay H. Song of the Department of Jewelry of SCAD gave a lecture titled, Creative Thinking Process. Assistant Professor Zhang Fan of the Department of Art Theory Research of the School of Design and Arts hosted the lecture.

Professor Jay introduced the history and prominent accomplishments of SCAD and talked about the emerging design issues and their influence on artistic education, as well as how to enhance competitiveness in design. Her lecture was expanded in detail from teaching methods, teaching system, study directions of each grade, to learning approaches and excellent art works by students of SCAD, respectively.
